I'm a South Carolina-born editor, film critic, historian, and programmer based in Brooklyn. I have taught classes in screen culture and cinema at Birkbeck, University of London and CUNY. I specialize in nonfiction and horror cinema, with a particular emphasis on the experimental visual narratives of Black women filmmakers. My work has appeared in Sight & Sound, The New York Times, Film Comment, The Guardian, among many other publications.
I am an editor of Metrograph's online journal and biannual print magazine.
